Kegging day and my batch log
Просмотров 57Месяц назад
I'm blending/filling kegs today, and I am keeping a batch log for quality control (besides there are obscure TTB regs that ask for one) docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1GpF0erjm9cSoL58aCVwHcMqJIfABB2b7/edit?usp=drive_link&ouid=111681731495456322259&rtpof=true&sd=true
2024,04,21 Low cost keg rack for carbonation
Просмотров 61Месяц назад
I like to store my filled kegs on their sides to improve carbonation; the trouble is that the kegs don't stack easily. I picked up three metal shelving units from Home Depot and ended up with a nice solution for nine kegs. Each shelf holds three kegs and cost $35. The video shows the assembly and it's an affordable and available solution.

Just some lessons learned while putting on the final coat of epoxy. It's very bright, it won't fill small pockets in the floor, and it stinks. Sharing some lessons learned.

When you pour, etch, and epoxy coat, you need to take care with the trench drains and the covers so that they are not plugged or stuck in place. I share some lessons learned here.
Affordable 304 stainless hose racks for your brewery/winery/cidery

Don't pay for more than you need. These hose racks are par with the $250-$400 racks that you would get from other suppliers. No, I don't get a commission for promoting them. www.amazon.com/dp/B09C4WD28T?th=1
I bought a jockey box!
Просмотров 505 месяцев назад
So, I bought a jockey box and was immediately challenged by what fittings to install. Not a lot of adapters for 1/2" ID hose, and apparently threading onto corny keg ball lock fittings is a thing. It works. I got this from MoreWinePro for $210 plus shipping. Not too shabby. I haven't used it yet since I had to pick up hose cleaning solution and a tap wrench. Stand by for more exciting episodes ...
2023 DEC 12: Pitched yeast and gas pain
Просмотров 566 месяцев назад
I pitched yeast today and have a wee bit of a colic. The clear vinyl tubing that I'm using to vent the tanks is getting crimped in the cool of the room and restricting the CO2 from venting. The fermentation tank was noticeably swelling and concerned me. I used racking hoses (3/4") to vent the fermentation tank into the alternate IBC, and from there into the blow off bucket. You can hear the blu...
2023 DEC 8: Buying fruit/juice, keg truck, and Cider Maker's Reserve
Просмотров 946 месяцев назад
Some lessons learned from this season. I bought fruit that will add base, but no where as good as mine. There's reasons for that. The Keg Truck is my gift to myself from my first Social Security check. Make a cider for yourself. You deserve!
2023 DEC 3 Pressing done and clean-up begun
Просмотров 1416 месяцев назад
It's been a busy summer, but we pressed the last bin apples yesterday and now I'm cleaning up. I managed to get the floor cleaned and equipment into the barn before the skies opened up with lightning, thunder, and rain. More to come as I get things back under control. Please like and subscribe!

Saint John NB Reversing Falls
Просмотров 241Год назад
The reversing falls in Saint John NB result from the large tidal swings in the Bay of Fundy. The first portion of the video is close to high tide while the current approaches slack tide. You can see a rock almost completely submerged, and very little of the tide line on the cliff face. The second portion is during ebb tide when the Saint John river is surging back out to see. The submerged rock...

ENOL Master bottling trials using a carboy and a keg
Просмотров 160Год назад
I have an ENOL Master Pneumatic bottler, and I experimented with different using water and then cider. Although ideal for still wines, you CAN use this bottler for ciders that are petulant and not have a problem. The idea is that you push the cider through the heads instead of using the vacuum pump to pull the cider up. Using the vacuum pump will cause foaming in anything but a perfectly still ...

I am so glad I watched your video. Just took off a bad Bulldog but am now going to go with a Haul Master instead of another Bulldog. Thanks for the info!
Why use grease?! You did wrong ways. I have them 2 years
We are also planning to start with kegs! Thanks for sharing
Good Day M. Yelvington, I'm sorry but this is a FAKE Zambelli Pump! somebody didn't tell you the truth.... we remain at your disposal to give you further details about REAL Zambelli pumps.
It have air pressurized. Some people don’t know how it work
Thanks.
I just hooked mine up, and three years later, they are selling the same setup, so doubtful they plan to improve it. Must not know of quick hitch in China.
Which brand sparkplug do you recommend
Thank you for make manual available for download 🙏🏾
I recommend upgrading to Bluetooth version with smartphone as an audio source. Mine are pretty good.

Finally a video that shows it with real power unlike all the other ones that are extremely weak and not really dangerous at all. An old video at that
It also kills the microbes
Here's what I do...if you are right handed, put a surgical glove on your left hand and put a glob in the palm and warm it up. Once it is softened up, using a popsicle stick in my right hand, I dab it on the tree. Throw away the glove and stick when done--everything stays pretty clean.

Merry Christmas!

I'm not sure what your asking or commenting on.
Not sure why I haven't thought about venting my ferments with tubing. Thanks for the tip!
Thanks for the update Alan!👍👍👍
Thank you for the update, some wise advise here.
Appreciate the update Alan! Happy holidays!
That glass of cider look delicious
Yay! New video.
Very interesting Alan! Appreciate the update and comments!Trying to figure out a floor layout for a new shed for use in my small orchard - cidery. Best Regards!
Thanks for the update Alan, great work ethic!
How good of a job does this tiller do? Do you like this brand? Pros and cons?
This is not a tiller.
@Neighbour_Al Thanks. The company of this equipment sent me to your video because I was looking at tillers with a quick hitch option. So I assumed this was a tiller.
@@authentichomestead Aah, nice of them :) The product is okay as is the importer. Yes, they products come from the "distant Orient" but the overall construction is fine. Get consumables (belts, spare hammers, etc) right away because you could run into long lead times. The equipment is not quick-hitch compatible out of the crate. Watch this video to see the problem and how I worked around it: ruclips.net/video/5yxcDiMAlZ4/видео.html My apologies for not seeing this note sooner.
No problem. Ended up buying a King Kutter tiller at our local farm store last week.
Alan, how was the harvest this year? Just went to Bar Harbor this summer, love Maine.
I got zapped by the same freeze everyone else did, but I suppose that it could have been worse. Dabinett and Chisel Jersey came through fine, with a few others hanging on here and there.
Hello Alen. Thank you for producing this video. It has inspired me to build my own rig. I used a similar stainless pan salvaged from used restaurant equipment. It's electric over hydraulic and has a cylinder with a 24" stroke. I call it my "Heavy Metal Cider Press" We've actually used it for 5 years now. Not a lot, but it sure is satisficing to run. Thank you for the inspiration. Ed.
great video. That large tray, where did you get the stainless steel tray?
Thank you. I had the tray custom-made by an Anish tinsmith in the area.
You would think in 10 years prices would go up, but I just purchased a 20 ton pneumatic bottle jack from Vevor for $80 free shipping!!! Like you say, work the web!
@MrContento No pressing fruit, lol. The only thing I use it for is pressing bearings and u-joints. I think 20 tons would be way too much. I would recommend 5 tons at most.
I just picked up a used silent genset and its low on frequency and voltage, the fuel/governor thing isn't even near the limiter thing. Will i need to move the spring to one of the outer holes to speed it up?
I'm sorry Mick, but I scrapped that engine years ago and just don't know. I've left the videos up to help folks as best they can.
@@Neighbour_Al thanks, I worked out the whole full and no throttle mechanism pivots, its making full power at the right frequency but still not touching that limiter. I guess someone might have played with it or I haven't reached full load yet. It was run at low load for its 1000 hours and there is tonnes of carbon to burn out.
Such a smart idea, allowing you to build another stack while one is pressing.
Could you put a link in your description for everything you used. Like the vent in the dash etc
Any chance you could show what the heater looks like under the hood?
This mother is a cellulose pellicle. It has some bacteria in it, and its the byproduct of acidification, but it is not what produces vinegar. The vinegar itself is full of bacteria, and should be used to create new vinegar. It is not necessary to add the mother.
the volume is way too low
Hi. Whats the oil to gas ratio? Thanks
I use 50:1 with a quality synthetic oil. Sam gas that I run in my chainsaw.
@@Neighbour_Al thanks!
Alguien sabe por que causa no tiene fuerza la maquina?? Parece que no es de la bateria… gracias
Maybe bad contacts somewhere. I don't know the problem if the battery is good. Do you have a strong 24 volts?
Thanks Alan for sharing your views on these lanterns. I have a petromax rapid from 1966 and a Coleman 639 dated 73. The Coleman is perfect condition and I suspect only lit once before. In box with spanner, warranty & instructions! I paid €70 each ( $76) for these in an antique store. Both are paraffin or kerosene. I bought kerosene at the pump and lit the petromax using the fast lighter. It worked but I think it would light easier with paraffin. If I were going camping and was bringing a lantern then I’d grab the coleman. It just seems to hit the sweet spot with functionality and usability. Right size, weight, easy to light gives off a good amount of light. Keep em lit !
I have this unit. Anyone know why the needle would be ticking back and forth
I suspect that a charge capacitor has failed (open). Call the company!

help my bx2380 seat switch is bad used jumper wire on switch by front of seat didnt work , i have to bounce hard on seat to get it to work , if my weight shifts on seat it stalls, by passed connection to seat switch and same , stalls , is there a fuse i can remove to fix it ?
I'm sorry, but I can't help you without seeing the wiring diagram in the Service Manual for your tractor. I strongly recommend that you own a service manual for your machine. Good luck.
Great tip. Im at the point where I have to beat on something to get it out, and it isn't obvious how it's going to help since the other side is attached too. Everybody seems to show it already down, probably because the camera man had to help.
So how did you remove it? Mine is hanging from the drive shafts, and I've beaten the drive shafts inside the wheel bearing, and I have the bolts out of where the axle goes into the transmission. How do I get the axle out of the transmission? It has rotated itself to line up with the cutout you mentioned but nothing magic happened. What is supposed to happen when the boot is in the notch?
Years ago and I don’t remember. Sorry. What you see is what I know.
